About the event

Join us at TB Writers Plus for a fun costume party type-in! Can you match your costume to the era your typewriter is from?

What is a type-in? It's an event where enthusiasts gather to use vintage typewriters. Participants can bring their own typewriters, and everyone types on them in a communal or collaborative setting. The goal is to enjoy the tactile experience of typing on a typewriter, share techniques, and get to know other enthusiats. If you have a typewriter bring it, if not don't worry there are plenty for you to try.

What to expect: Attendees can bring their own typewriters, ranging from old, classic models to more recent ones. It’s a celebration of the craftsmanship and history behind these machines. Participants might collaborate on creative writing projects, exchange tips on maintenance and repair, or simply enjoy the company of fellow enthusiasts. Participants often produce creative works during the event, such as poems, short stories, or even collaborative pieces. Enthusiasts often bring interesting or rare typewriters to showcase, and there may be discussions about the different types and models of typewriters, their history, and their mechanics.

Why attend a type-in? It’s a chance to experience the charm and tactile feedback of using a typewriter, which many find appealing compared to modern digital keyboards. It’s a way to connect with others who share an interest in typewriters and vintage technology. It provides an opportunity to create something tangible and unique in a social setting. You can learn more about the mechanics of typewriters, their history, and how to maintain them.

 All are welcome! RSVP Required!!
